Here is my progress so far. I know it s really bad. Paint the stair risers. Use the vise grips to pull the carpet free from the riser.

Like this gaping hole. Pull the carpeting off the stairs starting at the top of the stairwell. Tear out the padding. Grip the carpet with both hands for easier removal and to maintain balance and safety.

Still have a lot of the finish work to do i e install moulding board and batten and paint. Since we moved into our house we have wanted to remove the carpet from our stairs and paint them.
